Choto Shona Mosque is situated in Chapai Nawabganj district of Bangladesh. The mosque is located about three kilometers south of the Kotwali Gate. And half kilometers away to the south-east of the Mughal Tahakhana compound in the Firozpur Quarter. It is a fifteen domes mosque.

The mosque was built during the supremacy of Sultan Hussain Shah. It was between 1493 and 1519. These fifteen domes mosque were once a time covering with gold. Local people were giving the name of this mosque as Choto Shona Masjid. It means Small Golden Mosque. The mosque is one of the best-conserved sultana monuments.

Choto Shona Mosque prime is under defense by Museums Governments of Bangladesh and the Department of Archaeology. As the gilding gave the building its name does not exist any longer. The mosque principle covers an area of forty two meters from east to west by forty four meters from north to south. It was formerly bounded by an outer wall with a entry in the middle of the east side. Now it is restored.


The most important decoration of the mosque is to be seen on the forward square of the mosque. The decoration consists of mosaic roundels in blue and white colors of flecked design. The mixture design is not in situ. At a distance of fifteen meters to the east of the gateway there is a stone platform. It is containing two tomb sarcophagi adorned with poetries from the some names of God and Quran. It is unknown grave of who is buried here. The glamour of Chhota Sona Masjid has now diminished, but it still remains the most attractive monument of Gaur-Lakhnauti and the most beloved place for visitors to the area.

People who want to visit this mosque they have to reach at Chapai Nawabganj. After that they have to depend to local transport. It will take less or more than one hour from Kotwali gate.
